THE CATSKILL CANISTER

The Canister is a quarterly newsletter published by the Catskill 3500 Club since 1968. The Canister includes Club’s news and Club-sponsored activities, volunteering opportunities and projects, new member roster and Club’s hiking schedule. Additionally, the newsletter features submissions from members, aspirants and guests about their hiking experiences in the Catskills, the history, ecology and geography of our beloved mountains as well as book reviews, photos and poems.

What are we looking for?
 
Submissions: Content contributions and ideas for future editions are always welcomed. Submissions on the topics of hiking with kids, pushing your limits, exploring something new and exciting, history of the Catskills, ecology, wildlife and geology, your personal experiences, advice, review of relevant nature/Catskills/hiking books are just some of the examples of what we would love to include in the next issue of The Canister! Suggested length for prose: up to 2000 words.


Photos: For photo submissions, please ensure the photos are high resolution (several MB at a min) and in a landscape or panoramic format. We would love to see your photos of foliage, geological oddities, waterfalls, wildlife, views, flora, sunsets and sunrises. JPEG format is preferred.
 
The newsletter is for the benefit of Club members and aspirants. If you download it more than once, please consider joining or becoming an aspirant.
